SuperCO₂ System Used in Study of Great Lakes

A SuperCO₂ is mounted on the R/V Blue Heron, operated by Large Lakes Observatory at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. The SuperCO₂ is shown in the upper left corner with the tablet screen mounted on the lid. Dual showerhead equilibrators are attached to the ship's sample line. The superCO₂ can measure pCO₂ as fast as every 2 seconds, and has standard gases for onboard calibration. The R/V Blue Heron is used for research and routine monitoring in the Great Lakes. An example of pCO₂ measured on a transect of Lake Superior is shown above.
