SuperCO2 System Used in Study of Great Lakes

   

A SuperCO2 is mounted on the R/V Blue Heron, operated by Large Lakes Observatory at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. The SuperCO2 is shown in the upper left corner with the tablet screen mounted on the lid. Dual showerhead equilibrators are attached to the ship's sample line. The superCO2 can measure pCO2 as fast as every 2 seconds, and has standard gases for onboard calibration. The R/V Blue Heron is used for research and routine monitoring in the Great Lakes. An example of pCO2 measured on a transect of Lake Superior is shown above.
